After a lithium flashlight battery caught fire and completely damaged the interior of this lake house in Azle, TX, our team came to help. We fully gutted the space and rebuilt it from the ground up, transforming it into a modern, lake-themed home that our clients can love again.

During the renovation, the homeowners decided to take the opportunity to add a second-floor addition above the primary suite and garage — a perfect space for their grandchildren to enjoy during visits. Our design team came up with a plan that would allow the second floor to be added seamlessly.

The addition includes a home office with a balcony, a playroom custom-built to fit a 22-foot shuffleboard table, a full bathroom, a bunk room, and a large storage closet with a mechanical attic lift. To access the new floor, we added a staircase in place of an existing pantry and storage closet — minimizing layout changes while maximizing function. Our custom cabinet maker also built storage under the stairs to make the entrance from the garage more practical and organized.

The home office features a balcony overlooking Eagle Mountain Lake, a custom-finished Dutch door, several large windows, LVP flooring, and custom cabinetry for storage. The playroom and bunk room were designed with children in mind. We installed carpet for comfort and sound control, and positioned clerestory windows high on the walls to avoid any flying shuffleboard pucks. The connected guest bathroom includes a double vanity, a tub/shower combo, and a separate toilet closet with a urinal. The bunk room features four queen-size beds, each with a twin trundle below. Every bunk includes custom storage shelves with built-in power and individually controlled lighting — perfect for guests of all ages. The large storage room houses the mechanical lift, which connects to the garage below for convenient access.
