What Does A Bathroom Renovation Cost In 2026?
What does a new bathroom (or kitchen, or room addition) cost? It’s one of the most common questions clients ask. Many contractors try to dance around pricing questions (and since most contractors can’t dance, that can be pretty awkward!), but at Home Front, we believe it’s best to provide as much guidance as we can before we both spend a lot of time on a detailed estimate. We’ve done hundreds of bathroom remodels over 15 years, and can give some pretty decent ballpark estimates.
Below are a few examples of bathroom projects, with estimated price ranges. Of course, we’ll need to see your individual project in order to give you a real price, but this should help as you think about your budget. And if you want to take some photos of your bathroom and send them to us, we can absolutely discuss ballpark pricing over the phone before we ever come out for an onsite estimate.
I’ll also say this: there’s hardly any reality in those “reality TV” remodeling shows – my wife, Jenn, won’t let me watch them anymore because I keep yelling at the TV. Out of all the unrealistic things on those shows, the most unrealistic thing is the prices they quote. They’re often not even included in the right category, so don’t pay much attention to what they tell you things cost.

Shower Remodels or Tub-To-Shower Conversions
Design decisions are typically just selecting the tile and fixtures.
Cost for this will be roughly $12,000 – $15,000.
It can be a little cheaper if we can use off-the-shelf shower glass, or we use a solid-surface product for the shower base and walls.
It can get more expensive as the size of the shower increases, or we add multiple showerheads, body sprays (worth every penny!) or other luxury features.
Hall Bathroom Remodels
Most hall baths are somewhere in the 30-60 sq. ft. range, and the updates rarely involve reconfiguration. Usually, we’re replacing a tub and tub surround, with no shower glass, though some clients want to convert the tub to a shower.
Design decisions are usually about product selections, not so much about space planning. Our design team will help you select good-looking tile, lighting, fixtures, vanity, flooring, paint and so on that fits your budget.
Cost for a full remodel is typically $17,000 – $20,000.
It can be lower if we keep the existing tub and just replace the surround, or if we keep the existing vanities.

Bathroom Remodels
- This Mansfield bathroom (pictured above) used a solid-surface tub surround, solid surface countertops, and LVP flooring to reduce cost.
- This Fort Worth bathroom used tile for the tub surround and tile flooring, plus custom cabinetry to make the bathroom exactly what they wanted.
- This bathroom (pictured to the right) in a historic district in Fort Worth kept the existing glass vanity and wanted all of the tile and other selections to be appropriate for the house’s historic origins.
Spacious Master Bathroom Remodels
These bathrooms typically run between 100 and 200 sq. ft. and have both a shower and a tub, plus either double vanities or one large vanity. Sometimes, the tub is eliminated and replaced with an extra-large shower.
Design decisions for these kinds of projects include the selections mentions in the categories above, but they also often involve reconfiguration. Our design team is very helpful with space planning and will make suggestionsto make your bathroom more functional.
Cost for a full remodel is typically $32,000 – $45,000.
Cost factors include how large and complex the shower is, as well as size of vanities, square footage of flooring and paint, the amount of lighting changes, and whether there’s any reconfiguration. If there are significant plumbing moves, the cost can go beyond the range I have here.
- This Eagle Mountain Lake master bath (pictured above) was part of a full-house remodel after a fire. It involved an expanded shower with dual showerheads and body sprays, a freestanding tub, and a dark stained vanity. We also completely remodeled the master closet.
- This Pantego master bath chose a natural, wood-look vanity, and had a few minor reconfigurations.
- This project in Grapevine involved expanding a very small master bath into excess bedroom space and also expanding the closet.
- This Fort Worth project featured a drop-in tub and a linen tower on the vanity. While freestanding tubs are very popular due to the look, drop-in tubs are easier to navigate as we age. If you’re remodeling your “forever home”, aging-in-place factors are something our design team can help you work through.
Showcase Master Bathroom Remodels
These are often very large, over 200 sq. ft., but not always. Sometimes, it’s about working to ensure that every detail is exactly what the client wants.
Design decisions almost always include careful space planning and significant floor plan reconfigurations. There are normally specific tile designs in the shower and tub space, as well as customized cabinetry and lighting. Often, a master closet or two are included in the remodel.
Cost for a full remodel starts at $50,000 and up.
$60-70K is fairly common for a spacious bathroom with a high-end shower and reconfiguration (which usually means plumbing and electrical moves). If you want to customize every corner of your bathroom, this number is for you.
- This Keller master bath involved a significant reconfiguration to accommodate an 11’ long shower with multiple showerheads and body sprays, a urinal, and custom-built barn doors.
- This Fort Worth project involved significant reconfiguration of the bathroom, with an expanded shower and freestanding tub, plus custom cabinetry and organization throughout the master closet. It was part of a larger project that also included a kitchen and staircase.
- This Flower Mound bathroom had significant plumbing and electrical reconfiguration and a full closet remodel. We expanded the shower, and installed large vanities and a freestanding tub. The client has also trusted us with their media room and kitchen.
- This fun Colleyville master bath (pictured above) was for a client who loves the Mid-Century Modern design style. It actually involved an outward expansion of the bathroom into the side yard, a huge shower with tub inside (a “wet room”), as well as natural-wood vanities. The client had previously trusted us with their Mid-Century kitchen, which we also love!
