This kitchen felt really small and closed off, so we helped our clients completely open up the space. We removed two of the walls surrounding the kitchen and built a large island. One of the walls was load bearing and installing a beam was out of our clients’ budget. We built a colum in the middle of the island to bear the load of the wall we removed, and it becomes the focal point of the room.
